i am having the hardest time with this no shopping thing!  but i'm doing pretty well.  I am currently obsessed with this H&M jacket that is sold out almost everywhere.  It is brown with tiny polka dots and a ribbon tie.  last night i called like 6 stores and finally found one that had one in my size.  this morning i actually had planned to drive 30-40 minutes out of my way to get to this store because they only hold it till the end of the evening and the traffic sucks.  I am leaving for Phoenix early tomorrow morning so it was my only chance to get this jacket.  at the very last second, i turned my car around and headed into work, because i am trying so hard to be good.  but i really wanted that jacket!

i hate this.

Congratulations, DCS!  That must be so hard for you to do.  Just think, every time you overcome the need to shop, you win.  You are in control, and will be able to meet your goals.

I wish I had such discipline, but every time I put myself on a shopping ban, I just end up going out of control when its over/I break it.

whoa i'm really proud of you! i would have just kept driving!!!

i think it's really amazing you're sticking to your plan! i have to say i am guilty of "oh well it's just a little h&m jacket" but all those supposedly *little* purchases are what add up! good for you and keep up the good work! it will definitely *pay* off in the end. :)

You can do it girl!  I know how hard it is, but you are stronger than that.  Of course, just to be on the safe side you probably shouldn't be calling a bunch of stores to see if they have something if you know you are trying not to shop, you silly girl!  Stay strong!!

Good for you girl!!! I am obsessing over a really cute gray mini by david bitton on sale at my dillards for $21. I keep telling myself no. As long as I stay away from it I won't cave. You can do it.

Thanks for the words of support guys.  i'm starting to realize that shopping is like crack to me, and it's scaring me that i'm still thinking about the damn jacket.  i really want it.  i know i shouldn't have called the stores in the first place, but a dark force pulled me in and told me to do it.  it was scary.  and i'm still thinking about cutting out early to go pick it up!  ahhh!

You can do it!  I fell off the wagon last week, but haven't bought anything for almost a week.  Be strong & think about putting that $$$ toward a vacation instead, which is what's motivating me right now.

Hang in there!

DCS - you can do it!  Just stay away and try to occupy your thoughts with other things.  My new tactic is to remember how great I will feel if I can reach my goal.  Maybe this is a personal thing, but I like the feeling of really accomplishing something - especially in my personal life with my personal goals, since I tend to usually break down before following through.  Plus I always remind myself of how I feel about having cc debt (aka crappy) and that usually helps.  Good luck!!

DCS - I wrote this in the Beauty Health section.. but this thought always keeps me from impulse buying (when I can remember it!!!).

Especially with cosmetics (which is such a easy thing to impulse buy), I go through all my makeup and tally up in my head how much everything that I dont' use on a regular basis has cost me. IT SO FREAKING SHOCKING! SOOOO MUCH MONEY! I'm even embarassed to post how much money.

Anyway, maybe you could do the same thing with clothes. Go through all the clothes that you don't wear and see approx. how much you've spent on them and maybe remembering that number will keep you from impulse shopping.

I always think, "Nuts, if I hadn't bought those two perfumes that make me sneeze, the foundation that totally makes me break out, and the lipstick that only looks good in dept store light I would be $300 richer!" And so on....

Now if I could only remember this for myself before my next trip to Sephora :(

What happened? Did you go and buy it?

I had a mini breakdown last night. I drove myself to the mall (I know very bad) because I really need a new bra and my vs gc is burning a hole in my wallet. Well couldn't find anything that would float my boat in there ( I really want a purple bra and I saw them last week but they all gone!) so I left there and walked down to Dillards and got the gray skirt. I am sorta mad at myself over it now. I mean it was already spent money from the holidays (did some shopping for my mom and she just now is paying me back) but I still feel like I should save the money! I hate guilt but love the skirt!

I did show some will power though. I went to TJ Maxx for the hell of it (why do I do it to myself???) and put back the vera wang sunglasses they had there for $25 which was really hard since I worship her and would sell my first born to buy her stuff (well maybe not but you get the point).

I guess I'm making some progress.
