Older Men?
Permalink Closed

Are any of you attracted to older men?  There's this guy I work with that is twice my age (he's about 40) but I find myself so attracted to him.  He really doesn't seem that old, and he's told me before that I don't seem as young as I am (20), which I don't.  I even dream about him occasionally!  Anyway, when you do the math it's a little creepy - I'm not used to having the hots for a man who is old enough to be my father!  Have any of you ever been attracted to an older man or am I crazy?

my tax teacher a few semesters ago was pretty hot. He had to be late 30s or early 40s though.

I've always been attracted to older men. Every guy I've ever dated has also been older, but only by 2-4 years. Even my dad says he sees me better suited with an older man, which is kinda weird. This is funny... my mom's best friend bet her that the man I marry will be at least 20 years older then me. It wouldn't be that weird if  my dad wasn't only 23 years older than me.

I've been dating my BF for three-plus years. I'm 19 and he just turned 32 today . (and yes, we started dating when I was 16 and he was 28). He's 12 years older than me and if we differ on things, he usually wins because I can be very stupidy and impulsive in many of my decisions, while he is very mild-tempered and very methodical.

My experiences with younger guys (that is to say, most guys my age that I go to school with) is that they've always been total jerks and completely immature. Plus I apaprently intimidate them because I have half a functional brain.

I honestly cannot see myself with anyone under 25ish unless he was really mature and really had his life together.

That is the story of my life! I just tend to get along with older men better than I do guys my own age. My newest interest is 24 years old (I'm 18.) I think they have a maturity about them that has a comforting effect.

Actually, I'm usually attracted to men younger than me (I'm 26 - shudder, scary!). But lately I've been dating a couple 39 year olds. They're okay. I still can't say I'm attracted to older men but I like these guys soooo... I guess my post has no point!

Oh wait, I AM seriously attracted to Brad Pitt and he's 41.

i have tended to date older men too -- my first serious bf was 5 yrs older, the next serious guy was (eek) 15 yrs older, and my current bf is 8 yrs older.  (i dated guys my age and a few younger in between, but these always seemed to be the just having fun, not serious relationships).

i think as long as two people are the same level of maturity, age doesn't matter.  for a relationship to work you need to be at the same point in your life too (i had problems with the guy being settled and i was still wanting to travel, totally not settled.)

my friends and i tease my boyfriend about being older -- we'll say, "oh, that's right.  you're part of the 'older crowd'".

My last boyfriend was 41 (I was 26/27) and I have always been attracted to older guys. Even when I was a teenager I tended to date guys in their 30's. Of course there are exceptions to every rule but I find younger guys - under 30 - to be generally idiotic, insecure and kinda desperate.

I've been into older men most of my life I guess. I guess I've always been friendly with so many guys in my age group... and I never really felt attracted to them. Mostly the age difference wasn't too much like 3 or 4 years. My current bf who I've been with for 3.5 years now is about 6.5 years older than me. I think we get along well and I guess it worked out because I was friends with his friends before we had actually met.

I have missed out on young guys though. When I was 18, I had like two flings with other guys that were also 18.. but never anything serious. Now as I'm getting older I wonder if I have missed out? But then I look at the annoying NYU kids in Williamsburg and I think that it was better to pass.

I'm in love with my 32 year old professor.  He is adorable.  And I would defintely do George Clooney or Pierce Brosnan though they could both be my dad.  I don't think I would ever date anyone younger.

When I was about 19 or 20 I dated a man who was 50 for several months and never thought twice about it.

My husband is nearly 5 years older then I am, I think it's easier to be attracted to an older man, as someone said younger guys tend to be pathetic.

I used to loooooove older men.  I've even had some illegal relationships.  When I was in my late teens/early twenties, I always dated guys in their 30s.  I thought they were so much more mature and i loved that they had money and impressive jobs.  Now I feel the opposite.  I would rather date someone my own age.  I feel that guys in their 30's are less likely to commit and are less likely to make someone else a priority.  Disagree with me if you want, but I always find when I am dating a guy in his 30's, he is more likely to break plans, not want a serious relationship, and not call when he says he will.  I think when a guy gets to a certain age, he gets set in his ways.  Also, if he is still single, there's usually a reason for that and the reason is that he doesn't want a serious relationship.  And they have more money and better jobs, which in theory is a good thing, but sometimes it makes me feel worlds apart from them and not able to relate.  My last ex (who was 33) kept breaking plans with me to do work-related things and it was a very hard thing for me to understand.

I really feel that guys my age or younger are sweeter and have more in common with me.  Sure, they may be less mature, but they are more accessible if that makes any sense.  I can have better conversations with them.

I am definitely attracted to older men though.  There is one I am VERY attracted to right now.  I think it is better to be attracted to him from afar though.  I think, in practice, we would never work out.

me too. i've this thing for older guys - maybe it's a mixture of respect, admiration and awe, which then translates to attraction. oh, i so need a man to be man enough in the relationship, if you know what i mean, and older guys come across as more stable, mature, command more respect and strong mentally.

however, the biggest age gap that i've gone out with is 6 years .. most of the time, it's 2-3 years. anyway, it's so hard to meet someone you can have chemistry with!!

I've always been attracted to older men, though not exclusively. the only one I was ever involved with though is my now-husband, who's 14 years older than me. although young men have their own wonderful traits, I find older men hotter in many ways-- more sophisticated, wiser, more strong... and well, just more manly! I don't buy that cr*p when people say, "oh, so-and-so could be her dad." um yeah, aside from the fact that he's Danish and she's Colombian, they could be father/daughter.

a very young coworker of mine who's adorable, when she met my husband and we told her our age difference, she looked at us really seriously and said, "so when he was in college, you were like in kindergarten. that is so hot." it was hysterical.
