I'm going to a party tomorrow night and want to get away from my "work" makeup look.  I really wanted to try a "smokey" shadow look.  I have Hazel colored eyes.  Could anyone tell me what colors I should try and explain how to create this look.  Thanks in advance.

with a hazel eye i think purples would look great...just stay away from black, especially since you're unsure of how to do it.  i actually have trouble with it myself usually, but i think sephora has how-to's on their site.  sorry i can't be of more help!

Maybe check out the makeupalley.com forum. Some of those girls have pictures of their eyes with the smokey eye effect. I always look like I have a black eye when I try.

I also have hazel eyes and like to do a smokey eye with either deep purple, gray, or bronze.  I use my regular brown eyeliner to create the smokey look and then just do the top lid in the shadow - if I try to do shadow under my eye I look very ill.
