What an idiot! I love this part:"In a brief telephone interview with Reuters, Aitken said, "I am not at liberty to discuss the complaint unless it is a paid-interview situation."   although i have to say Fear Factor totally disgusts me.  I can't watch the eating things part, ever.  i guess vegetarians really can't go on the show, huh?

NBC's 'Fear Factor' Sued for Rat-Eating Episode
Wed Jan 5, 4:03 PM ET Add to My Yahoo!  Entertainment - Reuters TV

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Watching contestants eat dead rats on NBC's gross-out stunt show "Fear Factor" so disgusted a Cleveland man that he has sued NBC for $2.5 million, saying he could not stomach what he saw.

In a handwritten four-page lawsuit filed in federal court in Cleveland on Tuesday, paralegal Austin Aitken said, "To have the individuals on the show eat (yes) and drink dead rats was crazy and from a viewer's point of view made me throw-up as well an another in the house at the same time."

His suit added, "NBC is sending the wrong message to its TV watchers that cash can make or have people do just about anything beyond reasoning (sic) and in most cases against their will."

He said the show caused his blood pressure to rise so high that he became dizzy and light-headed, and when he ran away to his room, he bumped his head into the doorway.

In a brief telephone interview with Reuters, Aitken said, "I am not at liberty to discuss the complaint unless it is a paid-interview situation."

A spokesman for "Fear Factor" said the show would have no comment until it sees a copy of the complaint. The spokesman said the program did feature an rat-eating scene in New York's Times Square on Nov. 8.

Over the years, contestants on the program have eaten some weird things, including ground-up spiders and live worms.

Well, I think he has a case!  I'm going to sue ABC for the airing of the Nick and Jessica Christmas Special.  It made me sick and I feel I deserve at LEAST $5 million.  I'm speaking to my lawyers today.

hahahahahah too perfect. i hope this case opens the doors for us to sue networks for bad tv! i mean it's obviously not enough when we don't watch them... they'll just keep airing and airing and airing.

can i make a case to sue to bring back good tv shows that were canceled? hehehe i love freaks and geeks and strangers with candy.

I, too love Strangers With Candy.  They air re-runs on Comedy Central.  I Tivo them once in awhile.  There's a SWC movie coming out soon too!

I LOVE STRANGERS WITH CANDY!!!  did you know that the actress who plays jerri is amy sedaris, the incredibly funny david sedaris' sister?  in his book, me talk pretty one day, he has a story about his sister, amy, who was always the attractive one their dad liked best, comes home for some holiday wearing a fat suit so her dad will freak out that she's not so hot anymore (not in a weird, molester way).  if you see her w/o her jerry makeup on you would never recognize her -- she's actually really attractive.  oh right, and she was on SATC too.

Against their will? I was unaware that NBC was just pulling people off the streets throwing them into van and forcing the to be on the show. I wonder if this guy ever thought about turing the channel.

Exactly = nobody forced him to watch.  But these things do bug me from an animal rights perspective.  Were the rats already dead or did they kill them?   I mean, rats can be gross, but they're sentient beings.

I am with you on that. Just to kill something so a person can eat it on a reality show and win money saddens me a bit

Whatever happened to changing the channel or turning off the TV if something came on you didn't like?

This guy should have no legal leg to stand on.

Now...about that lawsuit against ABC for Jessica and Nick's Xmas show, we should make it a class action suit and everybody hop on the bandwagon!!!

I also wonder about this everytime I watch the show.  I think they also have eaten live insects/fish?  The rat question is more disturbing, but I also think eating insects and fish alive is pretty cruel and disturbing.  Not to mention gross.

I'm glad that there are other SWC fans on this forum! Yay! My bf was really disgusted with the Jerri Blank character, esp. after these Peta ads that were plastered across NYC a few years ago. But I turned him onto it!

I've actually seen Amy Sedaris alot on the street and at some art events. Whenever I look at her I think, "no no no that's not right.... where's the overbite?!!! where's the constant eye twitching? where's the greasy hair?!" She's actually very cute in person and very small. I guess Jerri is just so convincing that I can't see her as anything other than Jerri.

My boy and I went and saw Elf and he couldn't figured out what he knew her from. It is just so weird to see her not as Jerri. She pretty cute.

i agree w/Ally_S.  he could've turned the channel or turned it off.  no one forced the guy to watch the show.  sounds like another frivolous lawsuit.

the rats were dead...but someone must've killed them.  i mean, they wouldn't just find dead rats and make people eat them.  they looked like they'd been frozen and then thawed (to make them easier to blend, i'd assume)...they were probably feeder rats they bought at a pet store or something.

that's the reason i don't own a snake...i'd like one, but to have to feed it something that's alive (well, crickets i could handle, but mice or a rat? no way)...i just couldn't do it.

Oh my god, enough with the stupid f-ing lawsuits. This is as bad as the one where the parent's of a fat kid were suing...was it McDonalds, for their kid being overweight from eating fast food. Some people are so desperate for attention or money...The media shouldn't even give them the time of day.
