An Orange Account is a bank account set up through ING Direct . It acts as a savings account that is linked up with your regular bank account so you can transfer money between the 2 accounts when you want. The reason so many people use it is because they offer higher interest rates on your savings than a regular brick and mortar bank because they are online only. Right now the rate is 2.35%. They are FDIC insured so you don't have to worry about that.

It is easy to save money with this bank account and you can direct deposit into it or set up automatic savings plans so that it will take out a certain amount each month or whenever you choose and you don't have to worry about it. I love mine and have saved more money that I knew I was saving.

Oh and you can open up 9 mini savings accounts under your one big account so that you can specify what you are saving for. For example I have general savings, christmas fund, wedding dress fund for the future, vacation fund, treadmill fund.
