Has anyone tried egg as a deep hair...

moisturizer?  My mom was telling me that I should put egg in my hair one day in the shower and it would leave it soft and shiney.  I don't know, i'm scared and sort of grossed out.  Although Mario Badescu has an Egg shampoo so that makes me wonder.  Has anyone tried using actual eggs??!! Or is it just an old wives tale?

I used to use mayonanise in my hair when I was younger. It does work and my hair was always usper-shiny, healthy and very strong. Although it stank like a mother...you get the idea.

However, I find that olive oil does the same thing. In Thailand, I used to buy bottles of fragranced olive oil (it smelled like pure jasmine) and just literally dump it in my hair. Now, since I can't find the fragranced oil (pooh!), I just use extra virgin olive oil from the supermarket. I massage it into my hair, wrap a towel (it can be warm if you want it to be...I have to pay a dollar to warm it in the dryer so I just use it straight from the linen closet) around my head in a turban-like style and chill for about 30-45 minutes.

is it hard to get the greasiness out of your hair afterwards?

You have to shampoo throughly, but I've never had a problem with greasiness in my hair when I was doing it.

i use olive oil a lot too and lilykind is right -- its great.  my hair is always super soft and shiny after -- i usually shampoo twice with pretty hot water to make sure all the oil is out.

I have very fine hair, and, um, I just wanted to tell all the other fine haired girls out there to be very, very cautious with the olive oil. It took me a week to get all the oil out of my hair. Oh, and if anyone else reads that thing about smushing a banana with almond oil, well, wash it out with cold water or it COOKS (it was so icky - that pretty much did it for me and experimenting with natural remedies).
