Cake Mascara

Does anyone here use cake mascara? As much as I love regular, wand mascara, cake mascara just fascinates me. Is it tricky? (Because I am NOT someone who does well with tricky makeup) what are your thoughts...should I try it or no? Here are two that I found- anyone use them?

well i am also not very good with tricky makeup. I would say skip it. Unless you think you can learn to use it the proper way. If there is someone who can personally teach you how to use it, then I say go for it. Just make sure you practice applying when you dont have anywhere to be.

I'm not really sure about it and ever since I started using Dior Show I don't think I'm ever using anything else.  That said when I want to try something new I order it from Sephora since I don't have one near me and I try it out since they give you 60 days to return for a refund.  If it fascinates you order it and return it if you can't get it to work.  I'm not sure how the instore return thing goes since I know you are within driving distance of one.  Anyhoo that's my suggestion.  Let me know what you think though if you get it.

I use the Lola one. It's as easy as regular mascara but involves more steps, so it takes longer imo. You wet the brush, shake off the excess water, and then pick up the mascara with it and comb it over your lashes.

I have the Paula Dorf one. I don't really use it that often.  I don't think that I've even used it alone before.  For some reason I use it on occasion over my regular mascara.  I guess that I'm a total tard, and I wasn't helpful at all.

The application process isn't difficult though.

i've had it applied on me before but haven't ever done it myself.  anyway, it was amazing, my lashes were so thick and long!   i think the brand the lady put on me was chanel but i think it was a limited edition so i don't know if they sell it anymore.  have to go to the store today so i'll try and remember to check for you...

lsubatgirl- I am the same way. I also use Dior Diorshow mascara (don't get me wrong, it's my favorite mascara ever...but I just like to try new things!) I also don't have a Sephora near me and I have taken advantage of their return policy. Maybe I'll just get one and try it out...hmm

esquiress- I know the Chanel one you're talking about...I remember when it came out. Thanks so much for checking if it's still sold. I can't seem to find it online anywhere.

If the chanel one was sold within the last year I'd check ebay for it.  I know it sounds gross but I've bought cosmetics on ebay and haven't had any problem.  You just have to make sure they show a picture of it and it hasn't been used.

Just take advantage of the return policy at sephora and try one out and review it for us.  I'm interested in it now!

Cake mascara tends to just be tint, imo, without the texture that regular mascara gives. The Lola one just gives me nice black lashes without the stiff spiderleg look that more others do. I like that, but if you're looking for a really dramatic look you might not be thrilled. (I usually wipe the brush on a tissue when I ppply normal mascara, because I don't always want that dramatic look.)

I used my PD cake mascara on its own this morning.  My lashes look dark, but they don't look done.  It looks more natural than regular mascara, but I wouldn't do this for an evening look.  I think that I may actually preffer this for my daytime look from now on.
