After much deliberation and procrastination, I have finally decided that I am going to get my degree in interior design! I am still not sure if I'm going to do a 2- or 4-year program, but I have officially decided to pursue it as a career. YAY what a weight off my (and my fiance's ) shoulders! If anyone has any words of wisdom about starting school when you're older/design school/ etc, they would be appreciated!

A few years ago I was so set on Interior Design. I wanted to go to the Art Institute in DC or Pittsuburg. Now I'm at Shepherd where that major isn't offered, but I'm still thinking about it. I'm obsessed with all sorts of design shows and think I could do well in that area.
Hey girl I have a friend in interior design school and I can ask her something specific if you want or i'm going to see her this week and I'll ask if its ok if I give you her email if that would help. She is actually from Houston and goes to school in Louisiana so she can help you with the houston part since you are moving there!
Thanks for the kind words, ladies! My fiance has been doing some research for me since he's off school - he spoke with someone at the Art Institute of Houston today and found out some great news: The only prerequisite for the design program is a HS Diploma (Done!), they test you into the correct level of the math and english/composition sections of the program (no problem!), and the cost for all four years (which would give me a bachelors) is only $67,000! They are sending me tons of info in the mail today - Whoopee !

Congratulations! I am glad to hear that you are going to do something you love. Hopefully you can get some scholarships and/or financial aid to bring down the price. I am sure you will be a wonderful interior designer!
