that sound from the alfie sountrack ("old habits die hard") makes me go wobbly in the knees. it's ridiculous mick can still have that effect at his advanced age! i'm not that into the other songs though. probably for the best though, i'm about to pass out from listening to this one track on repeat.
would anyone care to join me in some mick/stones worship?
I haven't yet seen the movie or heard the soundtrack, but that won't stop me from joining you in a little mick/stones tribute here.
At this point - unless there were a Zeppelin reunion (not just page & Plant, but maybe Jason Bonham standing in for his late dad on drums, or Dave Grohl as was rumored), or the Who came around again the Stones are basically the only band i'd bother to go see at a stadium concert (do they still have these those days? Last I saw was the Stones in '02) or pay more than, say $50 to see (well, unless the Old 97s showed up and wanted to play me a private show). Love love love the Stones. Sigh.

I haven't seen Alfie either, but the song was on all the commercials. It isn't even *that* awesome, but Mick does this tremolo in the chorus that makes me melt.
I hate stadium shows too, but I've been really tempted to see the Stones. I think the Stones and Bowie are the only big concerts I would go to.
dc, have you seen Gimme Shelter? It's so awesome, although slightly marred by the fact that when we were growing up, every time there was a fight in my house my dad would start saying "Why are we fighting?" in a bad British accent.
Is the whole Alfie soundtrack Mick Jagger? I absolutely love Mick Jagger and the Stones. I grew up on them. My brother Mark was and still is a huge fan of theirs. My sister was the biggest The Who fan - I had Roger Daltry and the gang and Mick and the boys all jammed down my ears during my formative years and they have never grown old.
I just watched the Kids Are Alright. It gave me such a craving to dig up all The Who albums. Such a good band.

Most of the soundtrack is by Mick. There are 3 versions main theme ("Old Habits Die Hard"), including one with Sheryl Crow. Some of the other songs are pretty good too. I love the Stones too. My mom is a huge fan and I stole her Sticky Fingers record - complete with a working zipper so you can peek behind the jeans a get a look of the model (supposedly not Mick) in his tighty whities!
