i had to toot my own horn. I did better than expected this first semester...yee-haw!
my gpa is way better than it was in college. of course, that's not saying much but i did great! i guess grad school is a little easier grade-wise than undergrad.
congratulations! im just in undergrad myself, but there is seriously nothing better than knowing that you worked hard for and deserved those good grades! good for you!

Urban and regional planning - it's pretty cool, but it's so different than undergrad...no hand-holding, and some professors are way more lenient in terms of what they expect from your work quality than others...whereas at my small liberal arts undergrad, the professors were pretty hard graders and held everyone to really high standards that were clear from the start. not that grad school is nec. easier, but it's more like, well if you don't do your reading or don't go to class or hand in sloppy work, that's your problem and your loss. no one is going to lecture you on it. the grade reflects the effort you put into it, but at the same time, it's hard to get anything lower than a B- on something you hand in.
Congrats girl. I know that feeling of relief/excitement when you do better than expected. I wound up with a 3.8 in grad school this semester and was really excited about it too. For a while there I was praying for a 3.6.
Congrats, that is great news! I definitely think its easier to be more focused in Grad school then it is in college, probably the maturity level thing.
