My dad told me to do this, and I didnt think it would work, but it did! I dont have a CD player in my car so i have the adapter instead (you know... you put this cassette thing in the cassestte player and it hooks up into a CD player that normally goes to headphones). I saw in the Apple store that you can buy something just like this but hook up your ipod instead of the CD player...but dont waste your money! The CD adapter worked just as good. So if you want to use your ipod in the car, get a cheaper adapter instead of blowing the money on the Apple one cuz its the same thing.
Also, I have the griffin itrip and that's pretty cool (except it can get dicey... I'll explain in a minute). It's this $30 wireless little thing you attach to your iPod (mini or regular - they make both) that plays your ipod through the radio frequency of your choosing. The only thing is that if you drive into an area where that frequency is in use, it messes things up and then you have to find antoher "open" frequency and play it there.
It's good for me, b/c my "vintage" (ha!) benz has no CD player (and I am not bothering to install one) and the (ancient) tape player is positioned in a weird sideways way that makes it impossible to use the tape player insert things.

The griffin itrip is great - you can play your ipod on any radio - whether it's in a car or in a hotel room - it's what my husband uses, along with a monster cigarette lighter charger - it's really great to have your whole music library at your fingertips.
I have this one - which is nice because all you have to do is match the radio frequency to the frequency on the adapter
since we're on the subject of ipod toys... I just bought one of these speakers for myself and one for my husband - we have the altec lansing foldable speakers - but these are tiny and can easily be carried http://www.macally.com/new/new_podwave.html
