Pork chops & sauerkraut
Permalink Closed

I'm going to try a new recipe.

2 pork chops (3/4 inch thick)
1 T olive oil
1 clove garlic, sliced
1 small onion, sliced
8 oz. sauerkraut
1/2 tsp caraway seed
1 T apple juice
salt & pepper to taste

Brown chops on both sides, remove from pan. Add remaining ingredients
and saute 3-4 minutes. Return chops to pan. Cover and simmer on low 20
minutes.

Does this sound good? Any suggestions to customize it are welcome.

I would try it as is. Sometimes the simpler it is the better it is - I don't like dishes that are so gussied up with obscure spices etc. that you can't even taste the meat/base.

ooh, I've tried a recipe very similar to this, only it also called for 2 strips of bacon and I think beer instead of apple juice. it was very good

I made the recipe without the apple juice and used bavarian style sauerkraut and it turned out yummy. I simmered the chops longer (about 30 min) and they were super tender.
