ok, that was a good episode! probably the best one so far - as always, so much going on! i totally kirsten. and i actually really like ryan this season.
i know i've been absent from the OC discussions to date (i actually had to DVR most of the early episodes so i was behind) - but i'm back in the fan club again. :)

me too! i really hated him season one.. and when the second season started, i was disappointed that everyone else on the cast seemed to have polished their looks slightly... but ugh ryan was still with that dumpy mushroom cut.
anyway, last night he actually didn't cause me to cringe when they did close-ups. great episode. i can't wait for january.... the oc looks so good!
i liked how seth intervened and asked his grandfather to leave -- it was nice to see him protecting his mom. i stayed up past 12 to finish watching the episode, which for me is very late on a week night, but it was a good one.
also, i hope julie leaves caleb soon. i just don't find his character interesting at all. i know they need some kind of villain running around, but whenever he's on screen i feel bored and can't wait for the focus to turn elsewhere.
and on a fashion note, i liked the pink shrug and silver flats marissa was wearing towards the end of the show. they reminded me of some ballet slippers i tried getting from girlshop this fall, but they were sold out. alas!
I thought it was really good too. With Ryan I alternate between being annoyed, and being totally endeared. It seems like maybe he is coming out of his tough-guy shell, now that he's a little more comfortable in his environment, etc. Oh, but poor Ryan, just wait till *his* kid shows up crying about their father never sending a Christmas gift, etc.
Kirsten's awesome. I looooove her clothes. I love how she's cool but still a mom, but not too mom-ish. One can aspire to so much. I'm a huge Summer fan though, too. She is so fun. Things between her and Seth were less annoying than they have been. If they could just chill out...but then it looks like maybe they'll be getting closer again.
Julie is such a riot. She and Jimmy hooking up in the bathroom...geez. But you know she's totally gonna use the fact that she never knew Caleb cheated on his wife to her advantage in the Jimmy situation.
And of course they totally gave away what "you'll never seen coming!" So silly of them...oh well, it's been all over the internet already.
valenciana, did they show the marissa kissing a girl thing in the preview? (i'm guessing that's what you meant by giving away "what you never saw coming.") my tivo cut off the preview right after kirsten caught ryan and linday making out in the pool house...
actually they just showed her holding someone's hand and looking at them all lustily. i won't say who it is, in case somehow people didn't see the preview and still don't want to know. but it's the person mentioned in trixie's (?? i think) spoiler post.
thinking about this now i just know it's gonna be goofy. sigh...
I loved last night's episode! Classic OC - it made me laugh, cry (I am a sucker for happy endings), and left my jaw on the floor a couple times. I think it was far and away the best ep so far this season. The previews look fantastic.... I wonder what Ryan and Caleb have beef about, I would love to see Ry Ry throw a punch or two at Cal.

My f***ing DVR screwed up the first 30 mins of it!!! I caught the end...basically right before the blow at in the kitchen...I saw Kirsten go upstairs and throw the vase at Caleb's head. Can someone fill me in on what happened in the beginning? thank you sooo much!!
hey tosh, i'm swamped at work and can't give you a full recap of the first 30 minutes but here is a website that does a decent job or summarizing what happened. you definitely caught the right half of the show though, that was basically where most of the action was.
i was out on thursday and i just got a chance to watch it now. i knew that chrismukkah would come through and provide a great episode! i have been waiting for kirsten to lose it all season. it was good to see her rail against caleb after having almost no reaction when he made julie ceo. that scene in the bedroom was really great. i love kirsten and i think kelly rowan does such a good job with the character. i always feel such empathy for kirsten in these situations. and i agree with scarlett, it was a nice touch to have seth intervene like that.
i was not into lindsay before this episode that scene when ryan tried to uninvite her from chrismukkah made her character more appealling for 2 superficial reasons: 1. she made those yarmuclaus for everyone, which is something that i would do, and 2. she had an imitation of life poster on her wall and that movie is awesome. so now i feel like i should identify with her.
btw, the other day i tried on that pink sweater that summer wore christmas tree shopping but i didn't get it. now after seeing it on her, i think i might have to go back and buy it.
This was such a good episode! I'm liking Lindsay a little better. I don't love her yet, but I don't hate her as much as I did. I like Ryan better this season too. He's got more going on than just being self righteous.
One thing that I hate about Kirsten, which always distracts me from her character is how hot she is. Come on! The actress who plays her is 37. That's just ridiculous. And she's the thinest one on the show. The guy who plays Sandy is 49 and while he's decent looking, certainly no hottie. The double standard that Kirsten represents really makes me not like her. So there's my rant.
i have to say, this show has totally changed my opinion of peter gallagher. before i basically just thought of him as buddy kane the real estate king from "american beauty," and that was it (although he and annette bening have some of the best sex scene lines ever when he says "do you like being nailed by the king?" and she says "oh yes, f--- me your majesty!"). but after this show i think he's incredibly hot -- love his character, love his voice, even love his eyebrows.
valenciana, thanks for the update about the previews. i have read the spoilers about who the girl is going to be, but i appreciate your restraint in case i hadn't. ;)

yes! the same thing happened to me! i always hated peter gallagher and thought he was totally unattractive. but his character on the oc is so lovable and goofy, plus i think p.g. does a great job in all his scenes - so now i totally have the hots for him! and i've seen p.g. do a bunch of interviews recently and he seems similar to sandy cohen - laid back and silly. i'm so glad he got this part because he has played a jerk in so many movies. the oc just proves to me that he is a good actor. i love how he slouches in his suits - it totally erases from my mind all those images of him playing a cocky, self-assured a**hole.
also, i think kelly rowan is well cast as kirsten. she may too young to play the mother of a teenager, but you can see that she's got lines and bags. she's not totally plastic looking like julie cooper. but it's also realistic that a woman in her position would look really amazing even though she's a bit older.
