in case anyone other than dot cares....there is no update.
the guy sent me a few text messages and then an email i was really busy at work last week so i couldn't do lunch. plus i had friends in from out of town so i was booked every night. anyway, he went on a snowboarding trip (blech) last friday but he said that he hopes we can hang out when he returns. whatever. we'll see if he even bothers to contact me. maybe he'll meet a hot snow bunny and forget about me.
i feel kind of bad because my sister and i lied and told him that we were adopted romanian refugees (well it was a joke, not a lie) and i think he might believe it! oops.
oh and this guy is not on friendster or my space. i know a lot of "cool" people aren't but it's kind of annoying because i don't know anything about him and i'm starting to forget what he looks like.

oh well we didn't randomly pull it out of our asses. it's just that people always think my sister and i are eastern european. we don't even look that much alike but we share certain facial qualities that seem slavic. so people always think i am russian, polish or czech and that my sister is russian, romanian or albanian. i've even had russian and polish people try to speak to me in their native tongues, asking for help on the subways and stuff. it's insane. we're irish and german. so sometimes we tell people that we suspect that we were adopted. anyway, this guy and his friend didn't believe that we were like 4th-5th generation americans with no trace of eastern european blood so we said "yeah actually we're pretty sure that we're adopted but my parents have never told us so we don't really talk about it." or something like that. anyway maybe this guy wasn't paying attention or is really dense because he keeps mentioning things about me being romanian.
if i didn't have very vague memories of my mom being pregnant with my sister, i would probably think that we were adopted. i mean look at us. totally soviet-bloc refugees:
i like that pic of you two--i don't really think you look very much alike, you're right. you do sort of look eastern-euro, though. i'm irish and german also (plus english and scottish) and people stop me all the time to ask if i am icelandic. they also try to tell me that i look like bjork, who i most certainly do not--i think it's just the squinchy little eyes.

that's so weird about people thinking you are icelandic! what i don't really understand is why people always seem to think that my sister and i are foreign. we don't dress weird or anything (at least i don't think we do!) yet people often seemed shocked to find out that we were born here. i also think it's so odd that eastern europeans have been confused by us! oh well. at least it's entertaining.
