charlie & the chocolate factory teaser trailer!
Permalink Closed

I just saw the teaser trailer for Tim Burton's upcoming remake of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory -- with Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka, and one of the kids from "Finding Neverland" as Charlie Bucket.  I've read that Johnny Depp was so impressed with him during "Neverland" that he suggested Tim Burton cast him as Charlie.

Anyway, here's a link for the trailer:

Looks very cool and weird to me!  I can't wait to see it.

can't wait to go home and hear it in addition to seeing it!  (don't really want everyone at work knowing that i'm watching movie trailers, etc.)

i love the original, it is so out there, and gene wilder was awesome, but i do love johnny...

p.s. was roald dahl on acid?  if you think about it, this stuff is crazy.  or maybe it's just tim burton.

the original C&tCF is one of my favorite movies - although the scene on the riverboat freaks me out to this day -- psycho! it was really ahead of its time in terms of effects, i think, so it will be really interesting to see how tim burton (love him!) puts his spin on it. i loved the chocolate factory dahl books growing up, but i definitely think that they could have been written during some acid-tripping years! other dahl books (like, for example, The Fantastic Mr. Fox) were not nearly as twisted and bizarre!

i've been on a subconscious tim burton kick lately - in the past week i've watched Big Fish, Edward Scissorhands, and Mars Attacks! -- he is definitely one of my favorite direcrors and i can't wait for a new tim burton film!

smash...you mean you don't lurve the riverboat part?  scary?  who woulda thought?   that chicken getting it's head cut off still freaks me out.

is it raining, is it snowing...is a hurricane a-blowing?  not a speck of light is showing...

did you know Marilyn Manson did a cover of that song?  my fiance listens to it all the time, even though it totally scares me.  but we are unhealthily obsessed with Willy Wonka.
