I had to take a pic of my living room to send to a friend for red paint ideas - so I figure with all the questions I have posted on Fh about decorating, I would post the pics here so you can see some of the choices we have made. We still have a LOT of work to do - that I know...but it is still fun to see how far we have come.


When we first bought the house the walls were an awful peachy/yellow color...all the moldings we orange wood and there was TERRIBLE peach carpet in the house. When we lifted the carpet the wood floors we BLACK -gross!! We also had terrible - BULKY track lighting in all the rooms too which we replaced.


 


This pic is after we took out the carpet and painted :


(this was in June - so from Feb - June we were only doing construction, no decorating - it was a mess!!!)


here are some pics I took last night - again, I know we have a LOT more to do...


 




I  am STILL looking for a chadelier and a china cabinet or buffet for the dining room - before I can do anything else I need those.

and yes, I REALLY need curtains on these bay windows - you can see into the entire house through them...yikes!

it looks great so far!  are you gonna hang your ketubah over the fireplace (or is it already hanging and i just can't tell)?  that is really sweet.

Your place is beautiful! It looks so warm and inviting -- the red and the wood work so well together!


I like the idea of having your katuba above the fireplace -- your marriage is central to your home, as is the fireplace (as well as being a source of warmth, etc.)

I love the warm colors and the cream. I can't get out of grey in our apt though. Where do you live? Not so that I can come look in your un-curtained windows, I mean NY, LA, DC? I just can't imagine where an apt would be so nice and homey.


Where did you get your ketubah framed? This may belong in weddings, but did you have a liftable covering for the ketubah signing or just the open paper? Do you know what I mean?


Very impressed, when you are done with your current job you can do interior design.

Thank you - actually we live in NY - in queens in a house (here is a pic:)



The Ketubah we bought at ketubah.com - we had it framed after the wedding. At the wedding we signed it - the Rabbi read it at the ceremony - and then we put it away - we didn't want it to get dirty, or have holes in it (from pinning it on a board).
