Have you ever been caught re-gifting? We just caught my in-laws. We gave my FIL a set of steak knives a year or so ago, and he just gave the same exact set (I'm POSITIVE they were our gift) to my BIL for his birthday. Right in front of us. They are so tacky.
Confession- I regifted Tuesday night to my friend who gave me the gift last year for my b-day. The only reason I did it was because she has been asking to read the book after I finished it and I was getting her a real present so it was a little extra gift. I'm hoping she doesn't remember and if she does oh well she got a few other gifts too.
I've never been caught, that I know of (I don't actually remember regifting anything, though, right now). But I opened two wedding presents with YARD SALE TAGS still attached! From family, of course.
No, but not because I haven't wanted to/thought about it. All the gifts I've ever received that I liked I wanted to keep for myself. Any other gifts that were hideous/inappropriate/God awful, I would actually be too embarassed to re-gift !

Ditto! If I didn't want it, chances are I'd be too embarassed to give it to someone, especially since I only exchange with my family and 2 closest friends. My mother always tries to get me to regift. She will get something hideous from someone like those boxes of chocolate from the drugstore, those sets of cheap make-up, or an ugly decoration or something. Then, when I am scrambling at the last minute to buy a gift for someone, she always almost tries to force me to bring it. And it is always bad or unsuited for the person I am giving a gift to. And she keeps saying stuff like "she'll love it, who wouldn't love chocolate?" or "this make-up set is great. She likes make-up."
I think the only case where I would consider regifting is if I didn't like it, but knew my friend would LOVE it. This has never happened though.
