I meant to reply in your other post, but my trainer makes me do it for one of my sessions, and I think it broke my plateau because I have started losing weight again...

i don't do it but I should!  It is an AWESOME workout.  Try jumping side to side, squating in between jumps etc.  It will shape your legs really well. (I read a lot about health and jumping rope always comes up as a top choice).

I used to. Unfortunately, I am too klutzy for this activity. I fell on my face twice in a span of a few weeks

Sorry it took me so long to reply!  I am getting back into the swing of things again afterbeing gone for so long.

We do cardio intervals with the rope, usually during a boxing routine.  I do bag work for about 3 minutes and then I jump rope for two minutes, and we do that for about 15 minutes, switching off between bag and and the jump rope.  She also has me doing it between weights as a cardio burst.  We'll work on 3-4 different weight exercises, and then when I jump rope, I do two minutes at a moderate pace on the jump rope, and then I jump rope as fast as I can for one minute, then 2 minutes moderate pace, and then 1 minute as fast as I can.  It kicks my butt!

I also have a jump rope at home, and I pick it up and jump rope during commercials when I am watching TV.

I think it's a quick and easy way to do cardio, and I actually really enjoy it.

I think jumping rope is a great cardio workout. Why else would all those boxers incorporate it into their workout? And you can sing all the childhood jump rope songs as well. "Cinderella dressed in yellow, went up stairs to kiss a fellow..."

I asked for a jump rope for Christmas after reading this post and actually received one (yay!).  I am officially going to start using it tonight - my rule is if I want to watch TV, I have to jump rope during all the commercials.  Let's hope I don't just keel over . . . . . it's been awhile!
