Mesa, AZ & Sedona

I'll be there for a few days in January visiting future brother in law's family.  I don't think I want to be in their  house for more than 2 days (they have 2 small children & rarely go out).  Everyone says that Sedona is gorgeous - does anyone know the area/have a good restaurant/hotel/sightseeing idea there?  tia!

I LOVE Sedona.  I spent a couple days there several yrs ago and I can't remember the names of any places, so I'm no help at all, but Red Rocks is sooooo gorgeous.

I LOVE Sedona. It is so beautiful there. Someone here grew up there - Lina, I think? Anyway, it's only 2 hours from Phoenix, and it's about 10 million times prettier.

Definitely go to Oak Creek Canyon - beautiful hiking and views. ALso,  If you're into natural/herbal/crystals & stuff, there are all these theories about hiking into the "energy centers" and such -- you can probably google it and find out. I did that hike once -- didn't feel anything, but whatev. Still pretty. If you're there before Jan. 2, you can go to the light exhibit at Los Abrigados resort. Finally, the Chapel at Tlaquepaque (sp?) is gorgeous - I almost got married there

Also, you can drive up into the cliffs at sunset -- it's gorgeous. There are also tons of markets with cool jewelry, etc.

As for lodging, I have never stayed in them, but if I had the $$ I'd stay at Los Abrigados or Enchantment Resort. For a cheaper option (approx. $100/night), I'd try the Sedona Real Inn.

There's also a great French restaurant there - I can look it up for you if you want. Most people want Mexican/SW food when they come to Sedona, though.

PS - here's a great guide: http://www.azcentral.com/travel/arizona/sedona/sedonaindex.html
