Any predictions, girls?

Can't wait! I have no predictions but I'm so excited that it's back. I'm bummed that this season will only be 8 episodes though.

I heard that this season is 16 episodes long. They've got 8 done, and if the writer's strike ends, they'll do the other 8 after a few weeks' break.

Was anyone else bored?! I really didn't find it that interesting. I hope it gets better.

I thought it was really good but in classic Lost fashion, I"ve got way more questions now then I did at the end of last season and none of my original questions got answered.

*********************POSSIBLE SPOILER**********************************

How did Locke survive?
Is Charlie really dead?
Who are the rescuers?
Why do only 6 make it off the island?
Whose funeral was it in the flash forward last season?
Why do they NEED to get back to the island once they left?

LOST is such a bizarre show. I found myself completely bored by the episode, but at the same time, I'm intrigued and dying to know what is going to happen.

I'm did like the flash forward stuff. If there are an "Oceanic 6" I want to know who the other three are. We know three of them right?

Did anyone watch Eli Stone and see what the Oceanic thing was that they were dangling out there trying to entice us to watch the next show? I was curious but not enough to watch a whole different show.

I'm curous as to why Jack changed his mind about wanting to go back- in the finale he was saying how he flew to Japan or whereever every weekend hoping to crash, but last night he was saying that he was never going back.

I thought it was because they show bits and pieces out of timeline which makes it so confusing!  When Jack has a beard and wants to go back to the Island it's after he sees Hurley in the mental hospital saying he'll never go back.  He said he was thinking of growing a beard.

Oh, and what do you mean about Locke surviving?  Did I forgot something?

Also, are they keeping a secret about other people on the island being alive? Do they need to go back and rescue them or is the "thing" on the island making them crazy so they want to go back?  Damn, I think I would still have questions when this show has a series finale!

I think he shaved his beard before visiting Hurley and was putting on a front.  If you remember the first scene of the episode, Bearded Jack was watching tv and saw the car chase and realized it was Hurley.  Then Hurley went to the psych hospital where Jack visited him.  I think Jack was just putting on a front that his life was okay.

I was thinking that the timeline was going backward in the flash forward. Meaning, the flash forward that we saw in the finale happened after the flash forward we saw this week.

My reasoning for this was that we first saw a man in a suit, pouring alcohol into his morning beverage, then we realized the man was a clean-shaven Jack (he wasn't bearded at this point.) Then, we saw that he was watching tv and saw Hurley. I think if he was putting up a front, we would have seen him, bearded, watching tv and seeing Hurley, then clean-shaven upon visiting Hurley.

Also, when Jack went to visit Hurley, they had a discussion about people recognizing Jack, to which he replied, "I'm thinking of growing a beard." It seems that he did, which we saw in the finale.

Another reason I think this happend prior to the finale flash forward is that this episode is called "The Beginning of the End." This could have dual meanings- Jack making the call to the boat (as indicated by Ben in the finale) and also the issues with Hurley and being the first of the Oceanic 6 who want to go back.

Here are my thoughts on this-

How did Locke survive?
Somehow Walt saved him. We saw this in the finale. And don't forget, the island has healing powers and Locke seems to be super-responsive to that (he healed faster than Ben.)

Is Charlie really dead?
From what I can tell, yes. He isn't on the cast list anymore and I've read in other sources that he is, in fact, dead.

Who are the rescuers?
I don't think they are rescuers at all. I don't think they were looking for the Oceanic survivors. They were looking for the island.

Why do only 6 make it off the island?
I think only 6 choose to leave the island. Locke will probably never leave because he doesn't want to be paralyzed again. Rose and Bernard may not leave because her cancer will come back.

My guess is the six are Hurley, Jack and Kate (we know this for sure) and Jin and Sun (because Sun is pregnant and knows pregnant women die on the island.) I think Juliet also leaves to get back to her sister. I would say that it's Danielle that leaves, but I don't think she would leave without Alex.

Whose funeral was it in the flash forward last season?
Not a clue.

Why do they NEED to get back to the island once they left?
To get everyone else who is still there. Or maybe to go back to life on the island. Maybe once you're there, there is a constant draw to back.

Cortney1982, yes, I think they are keeping a secret about everyone else still being alive. The guy that visited Hurley asked Hurley directly if they were still alive and Hurley freaked out. Then Jack and Hurley had a conversation about it and Hurley said something like, "Did you think I'd talk?"

I loved the episode, by the way.

Loved the episode, but by this point, I feel that they should be more generous with revelations.  It's so unbalanced, for every answer, too many new questions arise.  That can lead to a ridiculous, implausible and overwhelming final season and finale.  OF COURSE I WILL STILL LOVE IT....which the producers know we all do.

And can I just say, flippin' writer's strike. Gah.

More Desmond!
