Since I'm Not Going to the Theatre on Saturday in NYC, Any Other Suggestions?
Permalink Closed

Can any of you NYC girls give me a reccommendation for something to do with family on Saturday this weekend in NYC?  We don't want to do the typical touristy stuff, unless it's a museum as we do enjoy museums.  We've been to the Natural History museum and Museum of Modern Art, but that's it in NY.  We're open to any suggestions for good places to eat too, we usually just pick some overpriced place near Times Square...  Thanks for any suggestions.

I hate that you're having to miss the theatre!  My best friend is coming soon and I just sent this list of museums to her:

the biggest one with the most art...has all the egyption stuff too.
This one is the furthest uptown but it's really cool.
This is the weird swirley building...you walk up this big circular ramp and there are exhibit rooms off the sides...small but if they have something good showing it's at least easy to do in a couple of hours.

Besides shopping you could try:

The night route on the doubledecker buses.
Ice skating or watching the iceskaters in Central Park.
Wine/cheese tasting (Divine bar)
Chocolate overload (Max Brenner)
Imax movie (AMC Lincoln Square 13)
Tea and Scones (Alice's teacup)
Dinner and s'mores at the table (Cozi's)

If you normally eat in midtown you should really take advantage of checking out a new area.  Bleecker street and the area around there (west village) is fun for walking and lots of different food choices.  Tell me what you think everyone will be interested in (sushi, italian, cheap, fancy etc) and I can give you some suggestions!
