did anyone catch the "sneak peak" episode last night?
I have mixed opinions. It was really formulaic and was just like every other makeover show. Tim was also way too timid about sayign anythign negative. It was kind of slow moving. That being said, she looked AMAZING in the end- he definately know how to style a woman. When he was doign the sketch thing, you could really tell he knew what he was doing. And that digital measurement thing he did with her was awesome. I would pay good money to do something like that!
ETA: I do have to say... tapered pants? come on Tim. At the very least call them skinny pantsand make them seem SOMEWHAT desireable!
i really enjoyed it, i love tim and i think, like you said, he really knows how to style a woman's body and he just seems very genuine and kind. i wasn't crazy about veronica webb but i guess she is kind of like the stacey london of the show. however she was the one who was telling her the truth about how awful she looked and tim did say he didn't think he was being honest enough or mean enough about her old clothes. i think he was maybe just trying to be polite or he was afraid he might run her off. all in all, i liked it a lot and i am really looking forward to watching more. and ita, i would love to do that digital measurement thing! i wonder where you can get that done, probably have to buy the software....
I really liked it. The digital measuring part was so cool! I would totally want to do something like that too. Tim Gunn sure knows what he is doing, because she looked so great at the end. Her clothes, hair, and makeup were so flattering and she looked 10 years younger.
I watched the first regular episode--I think--with the young woman from NJ. I have mixed feelings. I want to love it cause I love Tim, and my coworker who knows him from Parsons says he is every bit as charming and warm in real life as he appears on Runway, so I want the show to do well. But I found Veronica Webb really wooden, she doesn't project any personality on camera at all, and she's not a good foil for him. And I got pretty sick of the whole "this is the beginning of the rest of my life, I've grown so much as a person, yada yada yada" thing. I can buy it from most of the women on What Not to Wear, because those transformations are REALLY drastic, and the women always do look 1,000 times better and more confident at the end. But in this case, they basically took a pretty young girl who just had a habit of living in jeans and t-shirts, and convinced her to wear some pretty dresses and sophisticated clothes, and I'm supposed to believe this has radically transformed her as a person? There was so much crying and so much congratulating at the end there--I just didn't get what was such a big deal! She didn't win a grueling competition, she didn't graduate from school--she got a makeover! Why all the drama?
I love Tim Gunn but I definitely agree with Sephorablue. The girl was very cute to begin with, just a little blah, so all the cheesy stuff about her whole life changing was a bit much. And her getting that new fabulous engagement ring to replace the cheap old one was pretty awkward, imo.
I just watched this on bravotv.com. Overall, I liked it. I agree that Veronica Webb was a bit stiff. I liked the outfits they came up w/ for the girl tho and that she honestly learned how to find things that suited her body type. I *loved* the Catherine Malendrino dress - such a cool cut and great colors.
I loved it just bc I love Tim Gunn. He is so classy and charming, its refreshing to watch. I like that they incorporated some pieces from her current wardrobe into the new wardrobe. I also LOVED that imaging program where they show how the slightest touches could make a difference. I think Veronica Webb doesn't add much to it, maybe she should show more personality. Her androgenous hairstyle also throws me off.
The subject of this episode was annoying to me. If she gasped one more time at just the mention of any sort of body-part, I think I was going to scream.
I've seen drywall with more personality than Webb.
Tim was very cool; and I want him to come over and throw out 9/10 of my closet's contents!
I couldn't get over how beautiful Catherine Malendrino, herself, is!
