long distance boy and i broke it off just now.  Its been a long time coming and was mutual (though he prompted, thankfully- i did not want to do the dirty work!).  We just weren't right in the end and weren't gonna ever be in the same place.  However, I still feel kind of bummed and lost.  Not very lost, but slightly hesitant and anxious.  This is my first time truly single in 5 years!!  I know I need this- to explore myself and what i want out of relationships/life.  Does anyone have any wisdom or inspiring stories?

I don't have any wonderful words of wisdom...I just want to encourage you to really enjoy this time and focus on you and improve upon your independence and confidence!!!

Sorry this happened! But but sounds like you are taking it in stride and if it was mutual it sounds like it was best to get out if you weren't crazy about each other. No real wisom, except enjoy being single! As much as I love my BF, I absolutely loved being single and still miss it. It's nice to just not have to answer to anyone, you know?

Nothing wise to share, but sorry to hear about your boyfriend.  Breakups are always hard, whether they're mutual or not.  But enjoy being single!  I've been single for about a year, absolutely no dating, and I've actually had a good time.  I get lonely sometimes, but getting back into the dating scene now is turning out to be hilarious to me, for some reason.  So now I'm keeping myself entertained with the laughing.  wink.gif  But I used my single time to travel, "find myself," think about what I'd want in a new relationship...  etc.  All that single girl stuff.

My only almost-wise words are to not wait to do things until there is someone to do them with. If you want to take a trip, just do it. Go out to dinner or see a show, or whatever. Don't put your life on hold!

Sorry for the breakup, but it sounds like it's probably for the better. Do the things you actually WANT to do. And then when someone does pop up, it will be better because you met him doing something that you LOVE! Take up karate, or jewelry making. Join clubs and groups. Make new friends.

And you don't have to sneak packages and new things you bought so your BF won't yell at you :)
