So it's been over a year since I've dated anyone, and I guess I'm out of practice with the whole "game." I organized an outing on Tuesday for my triathlon teammates, which included watching Transformers. During the movie my cute captain kept jokingly (or so I thought) putting his arm around me. I know this sounds incredibly juvenile, but we're actually in our mid-20s. Anyway, I kept making jokes about it, and laughing it off. So when we're walking to my car with one of my other teammates, I'm not thinking much of it. But when we get to the car, there's this awkward moment where the cute captain just stands next to the car, then an even more awkward moment when he takes a step towards me, and I hop in the car. Yeah, I'm a nerd. I laughed at myself the entire way home. But then I added him on Myspace, and in response, I get this message: "Hmmmm... I don't know if I want to be Myspace friends with someone who totally shot me down." So awkwardness upon awkwardness. I feel like I'm back in junior high... I'm not sure if he's joking around, testing the waters, or what. Aaauurrggh! I hate dating...
I can see how you might be mortified but I don't think it is actually a big deal. I actually think it is really funny and he seems to be taking it just fine with a little friendly flirting--as he should.
Take D's advice and see how it goes, or you can just laugh it off.
Yup, I'd have to side with the majority here and take D's advice also. And worry not...there are those even more out of the game then you...like me. Ugh.

I sort of played it dumb/laughed it off...and he got my number from our roster list and called me. We're going on a date tomorrow! I can't stop laughing. I think everything about this is hilarious. I just hope I don't burst out giggling at inapropriate moments tomorrow.... I will definitely update on Monday with how the date goes
that is so adorable! it sounds like you'll have a great time on your date. once in college i literally ran into my dorm when a guy made the step forward to kiss me.
