My FH and I are trying to decide where we want to go for our honeymoon and the ideas are all over the place - from Hawaii to Thailand to Europe. We have to go when I'm on break from grad school so either January or May-August 2008.
Any advice, recommendations :) Where did you gals go on your honeymoon or a romantic vacation?
Do you think you'd enjoy a relaxing vacation or a slightly more active vacation?
One of the most romantic places I've been on a vacation is Salzburg -- I thought it was great because there were a lot of historic sites to see and great music concerts, but not so many things going on that we felt like we would be missing things if we weren't tourists all the time (which is how you might feel in a place like London or Paris). We could just take long walks through gardens/the Alps, relax over a coffee, etc. To me that's the perfect sort of location -- someplace where you have a moderate amount of things to do plus a lot of historic charm. Of course it's entirely personal...
..and Hawaii is absolutely fantastic and I am sure that Thailand would be, too. You have a lot of great options! Yay!

Salzburg is one of my favorite cities in Europe. I've been there many times and would love to go back. Austria is gorgeous! It is pretty cold there in January, but you just bundle up. We went to Salzburg and then up to Munich right before Christmas a few years ago and it was fun!
If you go in the summer, the Lake Como/Bellagio area of Northern Italy (near Milan) would be fun. From there you aren't that far from Switzerland too!
I love Europe... however, I'm thinking the FH wants something a bit more beachy - but I'm not into the idea of going to a resort. I want some culture too.
Right now we're thinking either Japan/Thailand or Greece. I'm leaning Japan/Thailand as the Euro is kicking the dollars butt.
The dollar doesn't go to far in Japan either. I'd go to Thailand or Malaysia. Unfortunately, I can't speak from personal experience, but the BF are planning to visit that area soon.
Thanks ladies - after talking to some friends I've received some great recommendations and we've decided on Thailand!! We are doing a 3 night layover in Tokyo on the way home - so we get both.
