I have been using it about 6 months or so and have not had any problems with it interfering with anything else on my computer.

 same here. Although mine randomly decides to work or not work, and it drives me crazy. Even during the same session, it will find matches for one song but not another (even when the one it won't find it something like a top 40 hit, so there's no way there's none! and even when it's a song that I can find no problem a day or two later)
