I got a dozen red roses which is really bizarre since we don't usually celebrate Valentine's day. Hmmm. Has he done something wrong? Is is guilt? Just kidding. I think he just got caught up in the moment. Kinda cute. They are really pretty.
We weren't supposed to get each other anything! But he cheated. He sent me a dozen sweetheart roses while I was at school, and then when he got home, he gave me a pretty vintage looking sapphire-and-diamond cocktail ring. I am trying to figure out where it came from -- he said he didn't pay for it, but won't tell me where it came from. He says he didn't win it, and it's not a family heirloom. Oh, and it's not from a gumball machine, either. I asked.
Either way, I made him cookies and that was it, so I feel sort of bad.

Halleybird, interesting mystery! Do keep us posted! And I'd love to see a pic of the ring, if you get a chance...
DH has been out of town all week on business, so he gets his V-day gifts tonight. I bought him a mandoline (which has been on his "want" list for a while, and a beautiful pair of jade cufflinks I found on my buying trip last month.
He got me this:
it actually looks even nicer in person. We spent part of last Sunday afternoon putting it together and it is going to be my new jewelry chest. Whee!

On his defense, though, we kind of did our Valentine's Day stuff this past weekend and the weekend before that because we live 100 miles apart and knew we couldn't be together on a week day. I took him out to dinner and this past weekend we went to a V-day fundraiser for a group his father is a part of. Plus, he's really super sick. I'm grateful he found the energy to call me
And, I do really need socks. Badly. So I was happy to get them, lol

My husband is in Korea right now, so he had some wine sent to me. He's a little upset about it, though. He ordered it on the 6th and they said they'd ship it out within 2 days, but they didn't ship it out until yesterday. It should arrive tonight via Fed Ex. Can't wait to see what he got! I sent him a care package full of artwork and cards from our girls.
A first class ticket to come see him in San Fransico next week! We both travel for work and it's been 2 weeks since we've seen each other and was going to be another 2 before we'd both be in town at the same time again. So I'm taking one day off of work next week to fly to SF for one night and one day! This after he told me he thought v-day was silly...guess I better think of something to give him when I see him!
I actually got stuck at work that night (boss made me come in, then the roads were too bad to leave! damn snow!) but DH got me: a bag of black jelly beans flowers (not roses- yay!) roman holiday dvd chocolate covered strawberries split of champaign
He knew he was goign to have to work, so he left it all for me figuring I could have a nice relaxing girly night. So much for that.
My SO came home from work w/a bouqet of flowers (not red roses, which I hate!), 4 of the most adorable valentine mugs from Starbucks (they're pink, and frilly, and girly!), and a beautiful card. Then he took me for dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant.
I made dinner at home. He gave me a really sweet card and a gift certificate for a day at the spa and he says he will watch the baby while I go. We gave him a Red Envelope frame that says Dad and Thomas Pink Boxers, a Thomas Pink Hankerchief and some green message M&Ms b/c they are his favorite.

flowers.... but last night we went out for dinner, just the 2 of us, for the first time in about a year for Valentines day and our anniversary which is March1
I got nothing. nada. zilch. I got a "happy Valentine's Day" at about 2 in the afternoon because he forgot. I took the kids out to dinner by myself because he scheduled a conference call that lasted until 8 pm.
Bf made me cupcakes and brought them to my work--he even cut strawberries to put on top, in the shape of a heart-- along with a rose. Then we ate burgers at this place near my work.
husband surprised me with a diamond bracelet. it has 12 little diamonds on it and he said that it represents our 12 year anniversary that we'll be celebrating later this year. It's perfect! its not too bling bling where i would feel i could only wear it when i dress up. I'm usually in jeans so it goes perfect with any outfit.
i got him a $50 girft certificate to Chicks Sporting goods.....
I'm late to the party on this one, but I feel like contributing. I hate Valentines' Day and refuse to do the whole gift giving crap that goes along with it. I never expect or want anything from the person I'm dating and hopefully, they don't expect anything from me.
That said, I got the best present I could have ever gotten, for Valentines' Day or any other holiday or non-holiday, for that matter-- I got McStubborn. He's all mine, after all the crap that we've been through over the past year, with the 'we're coworkers' bs and both of us dating other people and the waiting and the stress and the heartache-- that's all behind us. And it's finally just us and it's fabulous. So, yeah. No present could beat that.
Joe got me a sweet card, and a little teddy bear w/velcro hands. He had dropped it off in my car while I was at work, I thought someone had broke into my car, but it was him! LOL He's so easy to please - I got him a couple of cards, and those little heart shaped candies w/the sayings on them. He eats them right up! LOL We just stayed in that night, knew the restaurants would be jam-packed.
