when traveling, i always check into the hotel and then wonder if i should work out first and just go grab something afterwards all gross looking or go get something to eat first while still normal looking and then workout afterwards.
i never know which is best for me and usually when i eat first, i find that i don't want to exercise b/c i feel really full from dinner.
Its probably better to just grab a snack like a banana before you work out and eat a meal afterwards. I work out right after work and usually take a quick shower after working out and throw my hair into a pony tail so I don't feel gross facing the public.
You really shouldn't work out right after a full meal - probably about 2 hours after is best.
I agree, eat something small before working out and then have a real meal afterwards. I know it's different from your situation, but I work out in the mornings, and will have a yogurt or cereal with some fruit, wait a bit (half hour or so) and then go to the gym. Like you, if I eat a full meal beforehand I really lose the desire to exercise.
in the morning, i have to eat at least something or i'll feel like passing out. Any other time of the day, i'll eat after. I can't work out on a full stomach but i also have to make sure my blood sugar isn't too low.
I asked my boyfriend, since he's a personal trainer, and he said to eat a small snack before you work out (preferbly w/carbs) and then eat a meal w/in 1.5 hours after working out. HTH!

thanks everyone for your responses! i'll try to eat afterwards from here on out!
a small amount of carbs before and at least 20 grams of protein after. Both are vital to getting maximum effects
