Always-erect iguana loses penisMonday, January 29, 2007 An iguana, but not the iguana in the story
Iguana erection update: vets at a zoo in Brussels have chopped off the penis of an iguana called Mozart, so he can walk again after suffering with a permanent erection.
Zoo officials decided on the operation after keepers called in experts when they saw the iguana was in some discomfort, and having trouble walking because of the permanent erection.
Remedies from cold water to introducing female iguanas into his enclosure all failed and it was decided that an operation was the only solution to the problem.
Zoo staff said the animal was recovering well after the procedure. And the operation is unlikely to reduce Mozart's opportunities to reproduce.
A spokesman at the zoo, speaking with the casual, blasé manner of someone who hasn't just had their penis cut off, said: 'Male iguanas - including Mozart - have two penises, so this is unlikely to be a big problem for him.'

vs. the high-pitched voice and eunuch-like manner of someone who had just had their penis cut off...
