Nightstand for a TALL bed
Permalink Closed

My bed is huge.  Truly enormous.  It's a sleigh bed, like this:

but our headboard is taller.  Anyway, I'm looking for a set of tall, skinny pieces of furniture to use as nightstands.  Most everything I've found is too short, usually less than 30" tall.  It also needs to be in either a black or dark brown finish and have at least one drawer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

General rule of thumb is that nightstands should be around the same height as the top of the mattress - you could go higher but going lower blows, as you know!

Anyway, do you know the height of the top of the mattress?  Might help since alot of things appear bigger/smaller online than they really are.  If you're open to going higher and/or using something that isn't a traditional nightstand I think you could find lots of options!

Thanks, Elle!  From the floor to the top of our mattress is 34", so I guess I'll need something that's at least that tall (probably something in the 34"-40" range).

Hmm, those nightstands in those pics look about 6" lower than the mattress.  Honestly- i would go a little lower than your mattress. i like this:

Well, I almost went with the

but decided instead to order two of these:

Dolce Dark Walnut Telephone Table
It's supposed to be a telephone table, and it doesn't have a drawer, but this little hutch on the bottom will work for storage.  Plus it's just shy of 34" tall.

Right now, I already have nightstands that are lower than matteress-level and they are killing me.  Every time I lean over to reach for something, I feel like I'm going to fall on the floor.  Plus I feel like they look silly up next to a bed that seems like it was built for the Jolly Green Giant.

I'll post pics once they're in and assembled to see what y'all think.
