Is Coach "In" or "Out"

I see it as basically neutral. It is maybe not the hippest brand out there, but nobody will really criticize it either. It's just a nice, classy, no-comment bag.

ETA: Except those ones with the logo all over them. Blech.

Is Coach still a popular brand of purse for stylish 30somethings?

I think it really depends on what part of the country you live in. I'm in Chicago and I see a lot of people here carrying them. I've never been a status symbol sort of person, but I know plenty of 30-40 year old women who either own a Coach bag or want to own one. I'm betting that in places like New York or LA, they are less popular.

I say if you see a Coach bag and like it, then get it and enjoy it. Who cares whether somebody else thinks it's "In" if it's in for you?

Popular? Sure. It's ubiquitous here in L.A., particularly the ones with the logos Kelly loves so much. Coach is certainly affordable compared to hipper brands, but people still feel like they're carrying a label and buying quality and so on.

I'm not a big fan myself - the styles are just not interesting to me, the accessory equivalent of mashed potatoes. However I'm not a purse girl like some people are.

I'd like to add that, if Coach, itself, is reportedly easing up on making so many of their logo bags, then you know that there probably is some fatigue around them.

I know I'm sick of seeing them. I do like the legacy look that they are doing now, and non-logo Coach bags usually look quite nice. I would not hesitate to carry one.

In case you're still interested, Ebay is having an outlet sale on Coach bags rights now. I just bought a swing bag for a SIL who has a few knockoff bags (I know, I know, what can you do?)

Here's the link.
