That is extraordinarily sweet of you. I think that no matter what you send, she will appreciate the support and encouragement.  It must be a very scary time for her.

I think that a GC from Itunes might be a good gift. I've helped to take care of family members with cancer (but not Hodgkins.) If she has to undergo radiation & chemo, there will be days that she is so tired and sick that all she may be able to do close her eyes and listen to music. She could also download a movie or TV show to watch on an Ipod during her treatments (the chemo can take a while.)

A really good hand cream might be an idea too. My aunt's hands got so dry due to her treatment. I bought her the hand cream from the Savannah Bee Company (it's the best hand cream I've ever seen.)

A cozy hoodie or throw might be nice too.  The treatments made my aunt extremely cold.  We always made sure we brought a hoodie ande a blanket for her to cover herself with.

An intern in my office (25 years old) has been diagnosed with Hodgkins.  She just graduated law school and was planning to take the bar in July.  She has worked for us for a year, and we offered her an attorney position after she passes the bar.

She has gone back to her home town a few hours away to stay with her patents for treatment.  We'd like to send her a card signed by everyone with well issues.  I thought about also putting together a care package but am at a loss what to include.  Books?  Magazines? Movies?  Lotions/candles/relaxation stuff? Gift cards?

Would love to hear some ideas from you guys.

I don't know her treatment plans but I would assume that she'll get some combo of chemo/radiation. All of my previous cancer patients as well as some friends who've also had Hodgkins say that heavy perfume smells can be tough so I would say no lotions or candles.

Does she have an iPod/iPhone/smart phone of some sorts? I would suggest an iTunes gift card so she can download some movies or tv shows or even just music so that she can watch them while getting her chemo. Maybe a gift-card to a local restaurant she likes so that when she feels like eating, she can pick her favorite foods.

Depending on her likes, maybe even a nice knit sweater or scarf for her to wear. Those chemo rooms can get cold.

Relaxation stuff I suppose is always good, in some cute packaging/vintage/fun. That's says "care". Gift card is always useful, but in a way it sends you off to get yourself something you'd like...

I'm so sorry to hear this and keeping fingers crossed for a full recovery.

I like the itunes gc suggestion, and maybe some healthy snacks. For books I'd go with humor/lighthearted stuff, things that can be read in short snatches in between naps.

Just to add to the suggestion list. Maybe some comfy yet fun socks? Hospital floors are cold and it might be nice to pull out a crazy pair of socks to put on during treatments.

Thanks everyone! So far we have come up with silly law movies (legally blonde, my cousin vinny, etc). We threw in some scent neutral lotion, fuzzy socks, and are still working on more. I like the music gift card idea.
