my husband has a platinum starwood membership from his business travel -- they invited us to create a hardbound book of photos from our travels.

you can view it online here: http://starwood1.pixfizz.com/site/account?preview=wjzwr483

I just checked it out. Great photos! How many trips were in the album? I recognized China and Machu Picchu. I've never been to Asia or South America.

Thanks! It's hard to read the captions online, but there's India, Nepal, Bejing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, Peru, Galapagos Islands... I think that's it. They were trips we had taken since we had a digital camera. Lately, I've been more interested in South America - flight times aren't bad, and no jet lag! I really want to go to Chile, Argentina, and Easter Island.

The photos were great, and it made me realize how terrible I need a real vacation. Weekend getaways a driving distance is nice, but being surrounded by people speaking anouther language is better!

I would love to get to Asia.

Oh, Argentina and Chile would be amazing from a wine region stand point.

You've been to some extremely cool places! I'm pretty well traveled around Europe, OK in the states and I've been to parts of Canada. But you know, for every place I've been, there are 10 I still want to go.

Glad you liked the photos!

GD - You can always drive to Canada for a different country/language ;) I really want to go to Montreal, myself. Also, Asia is definitely worth it -- so much history and interesting things to see and do.

Boots - you should definitely try to make it to South America - so much of a old European feel (probably because of the Europeans that settled there) and it's right in our back yard. I almost feel like it's my little secret to travel there!

I do love Toronto and would love to visit Montreal.

But, everytime I think of Canada I flash back to when I was 19 and would cross the border to go drinking and dancing. In fact, before I finished reading your sentence I was thinking 'she knows I'm not 19, right?' Sometimes I forget Canada has other uses than under age drinking since that's how I used it for so long.... I wonder if Bentley's is still there? ;)

At my old job we were developing a relationship with China, and I was so hopeful I'd get to visit.

yes, I know you're not 19, hence the wink!  I view Windsor as a place to get low priced prescriptions now!  Actually, I want to drive over to London and check out antiques sometime.  Only been to Montreal on layovers, but would like to visit for a long weekend sometime.

bummer you didn't get to visit China at your old job.  it would be fun to have a job that involves international travel (but not as much as my husband's -- he's gone almost 3 months of the year.)

I liked Montreal, but loved Quebec City (a short drive from Montreal.) Quebec City had an old European feel and so much history. I only spent a day in Quebec, but would definitely go back to explore more. Montreal was basically just another large city, except for Old Montreal (by the port) which had some character to it. I was surprised that everybody's first language was French in Montreal. I knew that they were duel language, but I had supposed things would be mainly English. Nope, first French and then English sometimes.

Quebec City and Old Montreal sound like what I'm looking for.  Thanks for the info!
